The modern classic shoe for a carefree summer
Clear lines, expressive colors and environment-friendly materials – these are the Isleñas from Sal de Mar. They date back to the traditional Spanish Avarca sandals, whose history began on the Balearic island of Menorca one hundred years ago. The shoes from the Spanish mainland were too expensive and not robust enough for the shepherds and workers on the island. Therefore, they developed their own shoes from simple local materials. The trademark of these comfortable cowhide Avarcas are their durable tire-tread soles. Today, these shoes are loved by children and adults alike.
The Isleñas interpret these cult sandals in a new way. They are hand-made from soft leather which has been dyed and tanned chrome free. They offer ultimate comfort and are hypo-allergenic due to the use of nickel-free accessories and water-based glues. These shoes have a practical Velcro closure which enable even small children to put on and take off their own shoes independently. Because the shoes are nearly closed in front, little toes are protected. The traditional tire-tread soles are nonskid and guarantee safety when playing. Due to their clear shape and the multitude of available colors, the Isleñas look equally good on boys or girls, and can be paired with everything from pants to dresses.
Shoe maintenance
Our fine vegetable tanned leather, with its naturally occurring marks and imperfections, is part of our natural concept and makes each pair unique. Natural leather does not require any special care. When they are soiled, they can simply be wiped off with a soft brush or a damp cloth. To increase durability, a leather grease or leather oil may be applied. Wet shoes can be left to air-dry. To prevent shoes from drying out or fading, do not store them in direct sunlight.
Some minor color variations may occur due to the use of natural dyes.
